The artwork
Is this a real painting?
No, and we will never say it is. What you buy is an original Maud Moon design, printed onto artist canvas and framed. It is a made object, not a hand painted one off. Every design is developed in our studio by Maud, from hand drawn reference and colour work.
Why is there a row of stars along the bottom of every piece?
That is the studio signature. Every Maud Moon work carries it, which is how you can tell one across a room.
Do the pieces work together?
Yes. Every work shares one palette and one hand, so any two hang well side by side. Night Animals sit calmest, Sky Lights are the boldest, Folk Friends bring the most colour, and The Quiet Hours is flatter and dustier for a room that is not a nursery. The collection called Hang Them in Twos gathers the pieces that were drawn looking at each other.
Will the colour fade?
The inks are archival pigment inks, rated for up to 200 years of display permanence. Keep the piece out of direct sunlight, as you would any artwork, and it will hold its colour for decades.
Canvas, frame and size
What exactly do I receive?
A stretched canvas on a 38mm frame, set inside a solid wood floater frame in natural light wood or brown, ready to hang. Frame depth from the wall is 53mm. Hanging hardware is not included, so keep a hook or a picture rail ready. The full specification is on the canvas and frames page.
Which size should I choose?
40 x 60 cm suits a shelf, a hallway or a wall beside a window, and works well as one of a pair. 60 x 90 cm is the one most people choose above a cot or a dresser. 80 x 120 cm is for a bare wall where you want the piece to be the room. Every product page carries a drawing of all three to scale, next to a cot and a sofa. The size guide explains how to measure your wall and how high to hang it.
Can I have it unframed, or as a paper print?
Not at the moment. We make one product properly rather than five products approximately.
How do I clean it?
A dry soft cloth. No water, no cleaning products.
Ordering, delivery and returns
How long does it take?
5 to 8 working days to make, then shipping time for your country. Netherlands and Belgium 2 to 4 working days, rest of Europe 3 to 7, United Kingdom 3 to 6, United States and Canada 4 to 8, Australia and New Zealand 5 to 10, rest of the world 7 to 15.
What does shipping cost?
Nothing. Shipping is free to every country we deliver to, and it is already in the price you see. For deliveries outside the European Union, import duties may be charged on arrival by your own customs authority.
Do you ship to my country?
Almost certainly. We ship worldwide, and your canvas is printed and framed in the workshop closest to your delivery address.
Can I return it?
Because each piece is made to order we cannot take returns for a change of mind, and we would rather say that here than hide it at checkout. Anything damaged or faulty is replaced free of charge. Send a photograph within 14 days of delivery and a replacement goes into production the same working day.
Do you do gift orders?
Every canvas ships with its collection card, which makes it read as a gift on arrival. Add a note in the cart and we will leave the price off the paperwork.
