Maud Moon is named after Maud, the designer behind it. She decides the animals, the palette and the shapes, and everything that leaves the studio carries her signature: a row of hand painted stars along the bottom edge.
The night world
Everything Maud Moon makes happens in the same place. A patchwork landscape under a deep blue sky, where the animals are asleep, the moon has a face and the stars were hung by hand. It is warm there, and quiet, and slightly stubborn. Nothing exciting ever happens. That is the whole promise: this is the calmest thing in the room.
Every piece has a story
No work leaves the studio without one. The hedgehog counts leaves instead of stars. The rooster is convinced the morning is his doing. The badger digs his room a little deeper every year, so the quiet keeps getting better. Each canvas ships with a small collection card carrying its story, so the piece means something before anyone explains it.
How a piece is made
Every design starts with Maud: the subject, the colours and the composition. The palette and the folk motifs stay the same from one work to the next, which is why the pieces hang together as a family.
The designs are developed digitally in the studio, from hand drawn reference and colour work. What we will never claim is that a person sat down and painted your canvas by hand. What you are buying is an original Maud Moon design, made into a real object properly.
Made when you order it
Nothing sits in a warehouse and nothing is made in advance. Your canvas is printed on 400gsm cotton canvas and stretched over 38mm bars only after you order, in the print workshop closest to your delivery address, then set into a solid wood floater frame in natural light wood or brown. It takes a little longer than a poster in a tube. It also arrives ready to hang, with nothing to assemble.

The night collection is where Maud started, and it is still where most of the work lives. Alongside it sits The Quiet Hours: flatter, dustier, made for a wall that is not a nursery. Different light, same hand.
